Acceptable Use, Community and Voting Policy
Version 1.0 — effective 16 October 2026
This policy forms part of our Terms and Conditions. It covers everyone who uses Noticed Sites.
1. Be honest, be fair, be decent
You must not use Noticed to:
- (a) post anything illegal, including content that is illegal under the Online Safety Act 2023 (for example terrorism content, child sexual abuse material, threats, harassment, fraud, or incitement to hatred)
- (b) post content that is pornographic, hateful, discriminatory, violent, defamatory or deliberately misleading
- (c) infringe copyright, trade marks or other rights, including by submitting someone else's website without permission
- (d) submit websites that contain malware, phishing, scams or harmful downloads, or that redirect to something different from what was submitted
- (e) impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your credits or role
- (f) scrape, crawl or copy the Service at scale, interfere with it, or try to get around security, rate limits or access controls
- (g) use profane or abusive usernames, organisation names, collection titles or notes
2. Submissions
- Websites only. They must be live, public and served over HTTPS.
- Screenshots and videos must honestly show the submitted website.
- Credits must be accurate, and people must only be credited for work they did.
- The same domain can't be resubmitted within 2 months.
3. Voting rules
3.1 Who can vote: any Verified voter, meaning a member with a verified email address. One person, one account.
3.2 How: each site is scored from 1 to 10, in half points, on four categories: Design (40%), Usability (30%), Creativity (20%) and Content (10%). Score the website on its merits. You can change a score for 72 hours after casting it. After that it's locked.
3.3 Conflicts: you can't score, or pick in rounds, a site you're credited on, or one owned by an organisation you belong to.
3.4 Prohibited:
- buying, selling or trading votes, or offering anything of value in exchange for votes
- vote-exchange rings ("I'll vote for yours if you vote for mine")
- creating or using multiple accounts, or using fake or disposable identities
- using bots, scripts or automation
- coordinating others to vote a certain way
- deliberately scoring competitors down to help your own site
Asking people to come and vote honestly is fine. Telling them how to score isn't.
3.5 Weighting and integrity:
- Each vote normally counts with a weight of 1.0.
- Our systems may reduce the weight of votes that show signs of manipulation or low effort, or flag them as suspicious. Flagged votes are automatically excluded from all scores (live and period). Flags are not reviewed before awards are published; awards are picked from the remaining clean votes.
- We use signals such as voting patterns, network information (hashed), timing, and sign-up waves.
- Automatic checks. Every vote is checked once, at the moment it's cast. A vote is flagged (and excluded) when several accounts vote for the same site from the same network address, network range or device, when the account uses a disposable email address, when a cluster of new accounts has only ever voted for one owner's sites, when the voter is an owner, credited person or team member, or when identical top or bottom scores are given within seconds without opening the site. Each flag records the rule and the evidence (counts, never your IP).
- Flags are reversible. Whenever a new vote is cast on the same site, or a flagged voter casts another vote, the checks for that site run again. If the evidence no longer meets the threshold (for example, the accounts go on to vote normally elsewhere), the flag is removed automatically and the vote counts again. There are no other periodic re-checks. No one at Noticed Sites reviews or overrides flags.
- Network hashes are salted, can't be turned back into an IP address and are deleted after 30 days.
- We publish how this works in outline, but not every detail, so it can't be gamed.
3.6 Public scores: live scores are public. If you switch on a public voting profile, your individual votes appear on your profile after the relevant voting window closes.
3.7 Consequences: breaking these rules can lead to:
- votes being invalidated
- votes being excluded from scores
- awards being revoked
- submissions being disqualified, without refund
- accounts being suspended or banned
3.8 Appeals: see the Complaints and Takedown Policy.
4. Paid features never buy votes
Paying for a submission or a featured directory listing, or subscribing to the newsletter, gives no advantage in votes, vote weight, scores, awards or rankings.
5. Collections and profiles
Public collections, notes and profiles must follow this policy. You're responsible for anything you make public.
6. Reporting
Use the Report button on any site, profile, collection or media item, or email support@noticedsites.com.
7. Enforcement
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or close accounts that break this policy, in proportion to how serious the breach is. Where appropriate, we'll explain what happened and how to appeal.
